Making a Difference Through Service
For generations, American Legion Post 71 has provided programs that inspire young leaders, support veterans, and encourage community involvement.
Whether through leadership education, constitutional speech competitions, veteran assistance, or local outreach, every program reflects our commitment to service and patriotism.
Boys State
Leadership begins here.
Post 71 proudly sponsors Texas Boys State, giving high school students the opportunity to experience a week-long government simulation in Austin where they learn leadership, citizenship, and public service.

Girls State
In partnership with the American Legion Auxiliary, eligible students are supported to attend Texas Bluebonnet Girls State, developing leadership skills through civic education and teamwork.

Oratorical Contest
The American Legion Oratorical Contest challenges high school students to deepen their understanding of the U.S. Constitution while developing public speaking skills.
Participants also have opportunities to earn scholarships.

Annual Sporting Clay Shoot
One of Post 71’s premier fundraising events, the Annual Clay Shoot brings together veterans, families, businesses, and the community for a day of competition and fellowship.
